Anna Dorminy White
Trainer / Owner / Pet Excursionist

Anna Dorminy White grew up on a working cattle farm that was home to up to twenty companion dogs and cats at any given time. These dogs were often those that had been abandoned. Anna and her family would oversee the rehabilitation of these animals so that they became loving members of the family. Anna was active in the local 4-H Club and participated in fund raisers to help build an animal shelter to serve the town. Later, she earned her Business Administration degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, while also studying psychology with an emphasis on early cognitive development in children ages 0-3. After years of owning a successful financial planning practice, Anna decided to move to Florida in 2000 to pursue her love of animals.

As a former world-record holder and collegiate swimmer for SMU, it was a natural progression for Anna to begin training marine mammals. She enjoyed several years as a marine mammal trainer and has worked with a wide variety of animals including dolphins, sea turtles, birds, small mammals, and of course dogs. She has worked both professionally and on a volunteer basis with several different organizations including Mote Marine Dolphin /Whale/ Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Hospital, Dolphin Quest Hawaii, Sea World/Discovery Cove, and Paws University. After returning to Hawaii in 2007, Anna shifted focus back to her first love, dogs, and hopes that all of
the Healthy Hounds Hawaii team’s years of experience will aid the people of the Big Island to make it a more dog-friendly community.

Utilizing positive reinforcement techniques in her training, Anna is able to help dogs and their guardians establish a more positive relationship without the use of scare tactics or force. Her goal is for each animal to feel comfortable and secure without fear or anxiety during interactions with humans and other animal species. Her mission is to ensure both the physical AND mental well-being of each family member that she has the opportunity to work with, and to create more lasting bonds between companion animals and their guardians. During her professional training career Anna has been required not only to pass strenuous swimming tests but also to obtain training in animal CPR and First Aid.

You can be assured that your pet is in good hands while taking advantage of any services offered by Healthy Hounds Hawaii. She is also a member of APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers),
IAAMB/ACWT (International Association for Animal Massage and Bodywork/Association Canine Water Therapy),
and is a certified Canine Good Citizen evaluator.
